Gentle detergents: the sustainable approach to cleaning the home

There are hundreds of detergents for cleaning the house: there are those for bathroom and kitchen surfaces, those for different types of floors and also very specific products that you often can't do without, such as limescale removers or detergents for dishes or furnishing fabrics.

The class of detergents for household cleaning is by far the richest and most varied in the complex world of detergents: the different surfaces to be treated may require very specific products, just think of wooden floors and furniture or delicate materials such as linoleum.

Each material requires its own treatment, it's true, but that doesn't mean we have to give up choosing natural and delicate products, capable of thoroughly sanitizing surfaces without damaging the environment and the health of the inhabitants of the house.

Delicate household detergents: pay attention to the ingredients

When you think of a mild detergent, thoughts inevitably turn to laundry cleaning products: wool, silk and other "difficult" fabrics in fact need non-aggressive formulations, capable of removing dirt without damaging the garments.

Even household cleaning products, however, can be delicate. It is a characteristic that depends largely on the surfactants, the ingredient that unites all the detergents we know, from dish detergents to body soaps, but which also involves the rest of the chemical composition of the products, often weighed down by additives and perfumes that they can hide very irritating chemical agents and dangerous for health.

These substances, the surfactants but also the additives and perfumes present in detergents and sanitizers, can cause skin redness and irritation, and can cause the development of dermatitis and others allergies. Producers, however, have the right to choose how “build” your own formulations: it is no longer necessary, as was the case in the early days of synthetic detergents, to resort to synthetic surfactants which can be polluting or harmful to health.

The same goes for the other ingredients: today you can choose natural raw materials equally effective of synthetic ones, and the fragrances can be obtained using essential oils and other natural essences, naturally free of formaldehyde, other sulfates aggressive chemical agents and potentially dangerous.

Ecological and delicate detergents: a sustainable and effective choice

One of the most widespread beliefs about detergents is that i delicate or ecological products are less effective at removing dirt than their more aggressive counterparts. In reality, the effectiveness of a detergent is largely determined byaction of surfactants, which allow you to modify the surface tension of the water, allowing the product to bind to the dirt particles and drag them away. And natural surfactants, derived for example from coconut or from ourPalm oil, ensure the same effectiveness on surface dirt.

The same applies, even more so, to solvents and minor components of cleaning products, such as stabilizers, the dyes and fragrances. Instead of butylcarbitol and formaldehyde, producers can choose natural solvents such as turpentine and limonene, extracted from citrus fruits, and essential oils capable of giving a pleasant scent without releasing irritating and carcinogenic substances into the environment.

New Chemical has been engaged in research for years sustainable solutions that respect man and the environment, an approach that starts from the belief that the product is not a simple bottle to sell, but the fruit of a creative and research work which makes use of ever-new solutions and strategies.

The use of propolis, for example, allows you to limit the percentages of preservatives, while the use of Ecocert certified surfactants of plant origin allows you to obtain deeply sanitized surfaces without fearing that product residues will pollute the environment or that their use may cause irritation.

Vegetable surfactants and natural oils to clean and protect surfaces

A perfect example of this sustainable and at the same time very concrete approach is Mistral, the neutral sanitizing detergent from New Chemical formulated with raw materials of plant origin and Ecocert certified surfactants coming from palm oil crops approved by the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil).

Thanks to its innovative formula, Mistrall is not only there sanitize thoroughly surfaces, but also prevents the formation of mould, bacteria and pathogenic germs. Its delicate but incisive cleaning action is ideal for cleaning surfaces such as marbles (also polished), wood, terracotta, porcelain stoneware, ceramic, laminates, glass and linoleum.

A sustainable vision of home care can also be applied to cleaning the wood: Oil & Clean is a product designed for the cleansing and protection of interior parquet e external decking, formulated based on natural surfactants, vegetable oils in emulsion and special active waxes. Thanks to its delicate formula with propolis, Oil & Clean is effective on interior parquet treated with oil, wax or paint, sui wooden furniture and on rustic stone and terracotta surfaces, and releases a pleasant (and healthy) scent of spices and balsamic vapors into the environment.
